Dominican University (DU) ( https://www.dom.edu/) seeks a mission-driven, innovative, and entrepreneurial leader to serve as its next Provost.
Dominican University is a private, Catholic, Hispanic-Serving institution (HSI) dedicated to the success and social mobility of its diverse, formidable student body comprised of first-generation college, low-income students. As a Sinsinawa Dominican-sponsored institution, Dominican’s mission is to prepare students to pursue truth, to give compassionate service, and to participate in the creation of a more just and humane world.
Dominican University seeks a Provost who embraces this distinctive Catholic and Sinsinawa Dominican mission and the core values focused on student success and equity-mindedness. The next Provost will join a future-focused institution that has been recognized for its innovation, the social mobility of its graduates, high-quality teaching, and a commitment to creating an inclusive teaching and learning environment.
With the University experiencing strong enrollment growth across its undergraduate and graduate programs, the new Provost will play an essential role in stewarding the strategic direction of its academic programs and services to sustain its student outcomes and mission-centered success. Now situated in two communities – the River Forest campus and the newly expanded campus in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, Dominican serves 2,725 undergraduates and 1,160 graduate students. DU students enroll in more than 50 undergraduate academic programs, six professional and pre-professional programs, more than 25 master’s degree programs, and two Ph.D. programs.
The next Provost will catalyze entrepreneurial academic opportunities, including exploring new program development that responds to student and labor market demand and faculty insights, integrating offerings for adult learners, and providing agile programming and partnerships for workforce development. They will work collaboratively across the University to promote academic excellence and the achievement of student outcomes and be a strong advocate for the faculty and the academic enterprise. The ideal candidate will lead with honesty, transparency, and compassion and be an exemplary manager of change. The Provost will appreciate, understand, and be committed to the value of a Catholic HSI education and be active in building relationships with faculty and staff to create a vibrant and mission-centered campus community.
